ZONGO VALLEY (2.400 m.) BHE 04

We will leave in private transportation (a 2-hrs. trip), up to the highest ski slope in the world, “CHACALTAYA” (5.350 m. a. s. l.). After a short walk, we will descent in bicycles, among fantastic views of La Cordillera Real de los Andes. We will also ride along the mountainside (4.750 m. above sea level) of the snowy Huayna Potosi (6.080 m. a. s. l.). We will arrive to the small village of Botijlaca - Zongo (2.400 m. a. s. l.) and the main hydroelectric power station. A 4 hrs. bicycle ride. We will return to the city of La Paz using the same highway (3 hr.).

We pick the client up from the hotel at 8:00 am. Then we depart to Huayna Potosi base camp (4.700 m.a.s.l.), a two-hour trip by car. From there we can look at the Huayna Potosi snowy mountain and several lagoons, after that, we begin our adventure. We will arrive to Botijlaca ranch, late we will continue towards Chacapampa ranch in Llaulluni where the High Plateau contrasts with the valley, from there we can watch a waterfall known as “the jump of angel” (el Salto del angel), then we descend towards the tropical area until arriving to the proximities of Zongo town (2.000 m.a.s.l.) where in our biking venture finishes. In this journey we will look at the different hydroelectric power stations, and finally return to La Paz city.

The Organized Service Includes

  • Biking equipment: Helmet, full suspension hydraulic bikes, jacket and pant: motorcycle style tailor-made with strong materials, gloves with palm and fingers protection, elbow and knee pads.
