Taking you to the real adventure!
About Us     Contact

Wildlife and indigenous culture. Flora and fauna observation; hide away in pristine nature. Hiking through the rainforest to a waterfall and visit to the “Pharmacy” of the San Miguel community to learn about medicinal plants.  Traditional hunting techniques and visit to a Tacana-community.  Expedition to the rare red and blue macaws’ breeding ground in Madidi National park.

Visit the Tacana Indians who have historically lived along the shores of the Beni and Tuichi rivers and within the boundaries of the famous Madidi National Park. They live in harmony with the environment and from various small commercial ventures such as handicrafts, fishing and agriculture. Now they also live from visits to their eco-tourism lodge that they have built and run themselves with the financial and technical help of local authorities and several NGOs, they aim to integrate the human being with the nature and this place is the access to an area with a great biodiversity in the planet with over a thousand bird species, mammals and neo-tropical amphibious and a wild reserve of many endemic plants.

Day 01: La Paz – Rurrenabaque: Transfer from the hotel to the airport for the local flight, after 45 minutes arrive to Rurrrenabaque (232 m.a.s.l.) airport and transfer to a nice hotel, afternoon free. Night in a hotel.

Day 02:  Beni River – San Miguel Ecolodge: Departure from Rurrenabaque, short walk to the boat that waits at the shore of the Beni River. From here you will take the 40 minute trip along the river through the rainforest to San Miguel del Bala Eco-Lodge. Welcome and lodging in local style huts (just more comfortable) featuring a private bathroom and lights. Hike through the rainforest with the local guide, who teaches about the Tacanas’ traditional hunting techniques. Taking the traps set along the path, as point of departure, he tells you about hunting for jaguar, monkey, deer, tapir, and wild boar for their meat or for their fur.  The highlight of the visit is the preparation of sugar cane to juice in the manual sugar cane press. Once you know about this long and laborious process, which is the first step in sugar elaboration, it will never again be the same to sweeten your coffee. Night in the ecologde.

Day 03: Excursion in San Miguel del Bala: Breakfast with a view over the rain forest and the river. With filled bellies, the tour goes by boat a bit further up the river, where a challenging walk along a stream starts. Taking it slowly (which is easily done since the surroundings are so stunningly beautiful) everyone can do the 1,000 meters walk and reach a natural pool fed by refreshing water from a beautiful waterfall. Here it is time to take a swim and let the power from the waterfall massage your back and feet. We then return to the Eco-Lodge on foot and by boat.

This time the tour goes through an area with a lot of different medicinal plants – the “pharmacy of San Miguel”. The guide tells you about local understanding of various diseases and not least about how almost all diseases can be cured with herbal medicines found in the forest and a good relationship with Mother Earth (or Pachamama). Night in the ecologde.

Day 04: Boat Trip Beni and Tuichi Rivers – Rurrenabaque – La Paz: Breakfast is served at daybreak before a couple of hours’ boat trip through the rain forest along the Beni and Tuichi Rivers to Caquihuara within Madidi National Park. Along the way chances to see alligators, capybaras, monkeys, and obviously a lot of birds are great. Caquihuara is the place for observation of the red and blue macaws sadly, of risk of extermination. They only live in this special clay wall not found many places on earth. A picnic is consumed with a view of the macaws and the rainforest. It is possible to take a swim or throw a fishing line into the water of the Tuichi River hoping for a fish to take the bait. The boat returns along the same rivers as in the morning. The luggage is picked us as we passes by San Miguel del Bala Eco-Lodge, filled with happy memories the tour ends going back by boat to Rurrenabaque in the late afternoon and transfer to the airport, after 45 minutes flight arrival to La Paz airport transfer to your hotel and end of our services.
