Technical Difficulty: For climbers with considerable Experience.
Day 01: La Paz – Sorata (2.700m): Departure from La Paz towards Sorata town at 2900m by private vehicle (4 hours trip). This Andean town offers with its subtropical vegetation an interesting contrast with the severity of the massif of the Illampu. In the afternoon, visit the San Pedro caves. Night in a hotel in Sorata town.
Day 02: Sorata – Titisani (4460m): Ascent along a valley going by an old abandoned mine and Inca ruins in the lagoon Chillata (4.460 m.) before arriving to the Titisani mine. We set the camp.
Day 03: Titisani – Glacier Lagoon (Laguna Glaciar) (5200m): This day we are going to the path which is very inclined for some moments it turns difficult. It follows the moraine and arrives then at the Glacier Lagoon at the base of the snowed summits. We’ll camp on the edge of the lagoon often obstructed by small icebergs.
Day 04: Glacier Lagoon – High Camp(5.600 m.): The ascension to the high camp is made on the Ancohuma Glacier. It is necessary to count with around 4 hours to get to this campsite – Set the camp.
Day 05: High Camp – Summit (6.427m) – Glacier Lagoon: From the high camp, the ascent toward the summit is completed in 5 hours. Climb to the summit of Mt. Jankhohuma 6.427 m, the route is for the west face, glacier with cracks edge of ice to arrive until the summit, back to the Glacier Lagoon in 3 hours. Night camping.
Day 06: Glacier Lagoon – Sorata: We descend to Sorata through the same path and spend the night in the Hotel.
Day 07: Sorata – La Paz: Return to La Paz by private vehicle after a small tour within narrow streets in Sorata. Arrival to your hotel and end of our services.
