Technical Difficulty: For climbers with considerable Experience.
Day 01: La Paz –Sorata (3.650 m. – 2.600m): We leave from La Paz toward to Sorata (2.600 m) by private vehicle (4 hours trip). This Andean town offers with its subtropical vegetation an interesting contrast with the severity of the mass of the Illampu. We spend the night in a small hotel of the town.
Day 02: Sorata - Aguas Calientes (4.600 m): We leave Sorata in a 4WD toward the Estancia Utjaña (3 hours trip).From there 3 hours of approach hike are necessary to reach the base camp at Aguas Calientes (4.600 m). Night camping.
Day 03: Aguas Calientes – High camp (5.500m): After breakfast, we go from the base camp, in approximately 5 hours, to the high camp located at 5.500m, there we set up our tents.
Day 04: High camp – Illampu (6.368m): The ascent to the Illampu Mountain is completed in 8 hours and the descent to the high camp in about 5 hours. Night camping.
Day 05: Base camp – Sorata (2800m): From the high camp we descent to the Estancia Utjaña and from there we return to Sorata by vehicle. Night in a little hotel in town.
Day 06: Sorata - La Paz: After breakfast return to La Paz by private vehicle after a short tour on the narrow streets of Sorata. Arrival to your hotel and end of our services.
