AROUND ILLAMPU MOUNTAIN TAHE 09

This trek offers you the best snow mountain landscapes, ending in a beautiful valley, after this long trek you will rest in a hotel in Sorata, enjoying typical dishes and Bolivian drinks.

The Royal Range starts at the imposing Mt, Illampu (6.369 m), and end at the resplendent Mt. Illimani (6.462 m), from north to south, the Royal Range contains magnificent peaks around 6.000 m This new trek leads us around Mt. Illampu (6.360 m), as well as other peaks in the Royal Range, It offers a selection of the best landscapes of the Royal Range, the high plateau (4.000 m), and the beautiful colours of the Lake Titikaka.
PROGRAM:

Day 01: La Paz city – Cacha Lagoon (3.560 m – 4.650 m.): Departure by vehicle from La Paz–Achacachi–Huarizata on to the Cacha lagoon (4.650 m), the trip offers beautiful landscapes including the 140 Km. stretch of the Royal range. Trip will take appoximately 4 hours driving. Arrival to Cacha lagoon and set up the tents. Afternoon rest day.  Night camping.

Day 02: : La Calzada – Chacolpaya (up to 5.000.m.): First day of trekking: Trough the high pass of La Calzada (5.000 m), from which you will view various landscapes to the east; west, north and south, from the base camp you will reach the top in about             3 hours then descend to the northern side of the valley and river of Chacolpaya(4.200m ). Trekking 5 hours.  Night camping.

Day 03: Zarani High pass (4.800 m.): Trekking from Chacolpaya–Coocoyo, this day will hike to the north near the Royal Range at across the Zarani high pass (4.800 m). We will set up camp in the cultivated of Coocoyo small town (3.600 m). Trekking for 6 hours.  Night camping.

Day 04: Polo Sur High Pass (4.472 m.) : Hike across the Coocoyo stanza an Andean village located in a beautiful valley (3.600 m), continuing on to cross the high pass Polo Sur (4.472 m), our camp will be located at the Mt. Illampu is gap, total activity of trekking 7 hours. Night camping.

Day 05: View of Mt. Illampu (6.368 m.): Trekking to Aguas Calientes (4.700 m), located on the northern side and used by climbers as the Mt. Illampu base camp: the ascent hiking last five hours, to camp at 4.700 m. Trekking 6 hours. Night camping.

Day 06: Excursion day: After breakfast, day trekking approximately 7 hours to the Northern glacier of the Mt. Illampu where you can see the North peak (6.368 m), and the south peak (6.340m), return to the base camp. Night camping.

Day 07: Jacha Pasto – Lackatiya stanza (Up to 4.886 m.): Ascent of about 120 m. more in a northerly direction to the Jacha Pasto gap (4.886 m), from this last high pass you can see all of the village of Sorata. They are 3 hours descend to the Lackatiya stanza (4.000 m).Trekking 5 hours. Night camping.

Day 08: Sorata Valley (2.700 m.): Trekking down from Lackatiya to Sorata (2.700 m), approximately 5 hours. This area has a climate with much vegetation. Lunch and night in a hotel.

Day 09: San Pedro Caves – La Paz city (3.560m.): MORNING: excursion to the natural caves of San Pedro. AFTERNOON: After lunch return by private transport 4 hours driving to La Paz city, arrival at your hotel and end of our services.
